Which airport do we fly into?
For our wedding you would fly into Tirana International Airport.
When is the best time to buy flight tickets for the wedding?
I suggest you start looking at flights 8-9 months out, I suggest booking flights at least 6 months out. This is obviously up to your discretion.
How much do flights cost to Albania?
Summertime is Europe's busy season, therefor making it more expensive to go this time of year versus the off season. Economy seat (ROUND TRIP) flight tickets to Europe at this time will probably range from $800-$1600. This usually varies on how many stops and how long you wait to book.
PS: If you find a ticket between $900-$1100, I suggest buying it.
Do you need a visa to travel to Albania?
NO, you do not need a visa to travel to Albania. Although, starting in May 2025, a special travel authorization—ETIAS, which stands for the European Travel Information and Authorization System–will be required for certain countries that may be on your list to travel prior to or after the wedding festivities (Ex: Italy, Greece, Croatia, France, Spain). For this visa you would apply online and it costs 7 euors = $7.50 (per person) and is valid for 3 years. What is the currency in Albania?
In Albania the currency is Lek. 100 Lek = 1 US Dollar . 1000 Lek = 10 US dollars. 10000 Lek = 100 US Dollars. They also accept euros and dollars too at most places. I suggest having a credit card with you, being that most places accept them also.
Is there Uber in Albania?
They do not use uber in Albania but they have a good taxi system. They have an App called "Speed Taxi"(Albania) that is like their equivalent to Uber. Hotels will always call a taxi for you and will provide you with numbers so that you can always contact one as well via Whatsapp or Viber. (Sometimes this is the cheaper option). PSA: TAXIS ONLY ACCEPT CASH. EVEN THE ONES THAT COME GET YOU THROUGH THE SPEED TAXI APP.
How far is the airport from the city?
Tirana International Airport is anywhere between 18-25 minutes from center city Tirana (with light traffic). The airport being so close makes it very convenient if you are just coming to celebrate us for a couple of days and go on your way for whatever your plans are. 😊
Do you suggest traveling to other countries from Albania?
Yes! We think you should make the most out of being in Europe! Flights to other countries within Europe from Albania typically are cheap, being that everything is so close to each other.
How many days before the wedding should I arrive?
This is up to you. The wedding falls on a Sunday so we suggest getting there by Thursday or Friday. There is a 6-hour time difference between the east coast and Albania. For Jet lag purposes the extra day definitely helps.
How is the traffic in Albania?
Tirana is a VERY busy city. I'm talking like NYC rush hour at times. Please take this into consideration when leaving your hotel to come to the wedding.
How far is the wedding venue from center city?
With no traffic it can take anywhere between 15-25 minutes. We would suggest giving yourself at least an hour to get there. (We will be testing this drive when we go this summer to have a better idea)
Do I need an adapter/converter?
Yes, you will need this. A European one. For the ladies I recommend investing in a cheaper straightener/curling iron / hairdryer for your travels in Europe just in case a fuse goes out. In other words don't bring your Dyson air wrap.
How is the tourism in Albania and is it safe?
Albania as a whole country has been a huge tourist attraction the last couple of years. It was the most visited country in Europe last year! It has the city life, mountain views, and beautiful beaches on the south coast. With that being said take precautions like you would in any other foreign country you visit.
What is the proper attire for the wedding?
This is a formal wedding. For the gentleman we suggest a suit or a tuxedo, and for the ladies we suggest formal cocktail dresses, or gowns. There is no such thing as overdressed at this wedding!
What form of transportation do you suggest?
We recommend using taxis throughout your trip in Albania. Especially, if you are not a confident driver or are not experienced in driving in foreign countries, we find it easier to just take a taxi and enjoy the ride! If you want to save money buses are also an option.

Tips and Tricks to Keep In Mind!
Packing light (Although I know this can be difficult especially for the ladies)
Buying Air Tags to track your luggage.
Packing all your important things in your carry on and personal item.
Calling your bank days prior to traveling if you plan on using your debit card. Also, it is good to check if your credit card company charges a foreign transaction fee.
Highly recommend getting international cell service, it will make your life easier. (Connecting to WiFi when you can)
